From Chairman Greek ( 10th October 2023)
I just wanted to write to share some reflections following the start of the season. Thank you very much for taking the time to read them.
On the field, the lads have started well in the league; we are P2 W1 and L1. In both games, we have seen significant improvement from last season, and, positively, we have had debutants in both of those fixtures. Our playing squad has increased with the additions of a number of players, each with a wide range of experiences—from those guys who have never played before, players who have moved into the area and are looking for new experiences, to old hats seeking a return to the true beautiful game.
We have had a wide range of scorers, including forwards and backs, and the atmosphere within the clubhouse has been electric.
We continue to recruit throughout the season, so anyone who wishes to come and play with us, please get in contact. You will be made very welcome.
Off the field, we have increased our social media presence and have attracted a raft of new sponsors. The company names and logos can be seen on our new playing shirts, training shirts, and bench warmer jackets. We are seeking to thank and celebrate our sponsors by inviting them to the club for a game later in the season.
As always, family remains the heart and soul of the club, and to celebrate this, we are hosting a ‘kids’ day on the 30th December 2023 when we will be playing a Northants and District Alliance squad—the first time in my involvement that this has happened and an honour that I am proud of.
Our new kits are now out. We have already worn the new black and yellow shirt in our win against Wellingborough OGs, and we are looking forward to the first outing of the much-anticipated white and yellow jersey. I am pleased that there has been so much interest in these items, and I am delighted to announce that we are now in a position to start taking orders from anyone who wishes to purchase a jersey. We will be selling these at £45, and this will include the name and number of the jersey. Please be advised that these are player-fit jerseys, so that needs to be taken into consideration when considering sizes!
I will write to you all again later in the year to update on the progress on and off the field. We will also be sharing some more exciting updates in terms of future events and social activities, including the Hall of Fame event. Nomination forms and panel members will all be arranged at some point over the next couple of months.
I wish to sign off by thanking everyone for the support for the club. This includes our sponsors, kit manufacturers, NOSRFC, fans, players, and, of course, our partners for letting us throw a tiny ball around at weekends.
